Gingersnap Cookies

Ingredients
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • Sugar for rolling
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven 350 degrees. Lightly grease cookie sheet.
  • 2. In medium bowl, combine flour, ginger, cinnamon, soda and salt.
  • 3. In mixer bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and molasses and mix well. Gradually stir in flour mixture.
  • 4. Form into 1 1/2"balls and roll in sugar. Place on cookie sheet about 2" apart. Flatten slightly.
  • 5. Bake 10 minutes. Transfer to cooling rack.
