Brownies

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup baking cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts, optional
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of 9"x13" pan.
  • 2. In mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
  • 3. In another bowl, cream sugar, butter, eggs and vanilla. Gradually stir flour mixture into creamed mixture.
  • 4. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
  • 5. Spread in prepared pan and bake 28 to 30 minutes. Brownies are done when top is glossy and small cracks begin to form. Cool completely.
  • 6. Sprinkle with powdered sugar or frost with chocolate frosting. Cut into squares.
Servings
  • Makes 2 dozen
Tips

Butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips or mint chips can be substituted for all or part of chocolate chips.
