Poppy Seed Bread

Ingredients
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups oil
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
Directions
  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 2 (8 1/2"x 4 1/2") loaf pans or 16 miniature (3 1/2"x 2 1/2").
  • 2. In a bowl, combine flour, salt and baking powder. Set aside.
  • 3. In a large mixing bowl, mix oil, vanilla, almond and sugar. Stir in sour cream. Mix well.
  • 4. Add eggs, stirring until blended. Mix in milk, butter flavoring and poppy seeds.
  • 5. Gradually stir in flour mixture until well blended. Spoon into prepared pans.
  • 6. Bake large loaves approximately 1 hour and miniature loaves 20 minutes or until set in center and lightly browned on edges.
  • 7. Cool in pan 5 minutes. Loosen edges and poke holes in top of bread with a fork.
  • 8. Remove from pan and place on cooling rack set over large cookie sheet. Spoon glaze over warm bread.

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon butter flavoring
Directions
  • Mix together and spread over warm bread.
