Party Root Beer

  • 4 quarts water
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 4 teaspoons root beer extract
  • 2 pounds dry ice
  • 1. Mix all ingredients, except dry ice, in a punch bowl or large salad bowl.
  • 2. Using a hammer or meat tenderizer, break dry ice into large chunks while it is still in a paper bag. Wear oven mitts to drop the dry ice into the root beer.
  • 3. Stir every five minutes until most of the dry ice is melted. It takes about 30 minutes for root beer to carbonate.
  • 4. Serve immediately.
  • Makes 1 gallon
